Privacy policy

This policy explains how Private Jet Directory collects, uses and protects your personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Last updated: January 2026

Who we are

Private Jet Directory (PrivateJetDirectory.io) is an independent directory and information service for private aviation. We are not an aircraft operator, air carrier or charter broker, and we do not sell or arrange flights. When you send an enquiry, we share it with relevant third-party providers who then deal with you directly. For the purposes of UK GDPR, we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What personal data we collect

We only collect the data we need to operate the directory and pass enquiries to providers. This includes:

  • Enquiry and lead details: your name, email address, phone number, and the trip details you choose to share, such as route, dates, passenger numbers and any notes.
  • Alert sign-ups: your email address and the empty-leg routes or locations you want to be notified about.
  • Contact messages: your name, email address and the content of any message you send us.
  • Business listing requests: contact and company details submitted by aviation businesses asking to be listed.
  • Technical and usage data: if you consent to analytics, we collect limited information about how you use the site, such as pages viewed and approximate location, through cookies.

We never ask for payment or card details. All of our forms are lead-capture only.

How and why we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Forward your enquiry to relevant third-party providers so they can respond with options and pricing.
  • Send you the empty-leg alerts you have requested.
  • Respond to contact messages and listing requests.
  • Maintain, secure and improve the directory.
  • Understand how the site is used, where you have given consent to analytics.

Lawful basis for processing

Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Consent: when you tick the consent box on a form, we rely on your consent to share your enquiry with providers and to contact you. We also rely on consent for analytics cookies, which only load after you accept them. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: we rely on our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the directory, and in responding to messages and business listing requests, where this is not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation: we may process data where we are required to do so by law.

Sharing your data with third parties

The core purpose of this directory is to connect you with providers. When you submit an enquiry, we share the details you provide with the relevant third-party providers (such as operators, brokers, FBOs or other aviation businesses) so they can contact you directly. Those providers are independent and act as separate data controllers for any data you go on to share with them. We encourage you to review their own privacy policies.

We also use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf as our processors, including:

  • Database and hosting providers who store enquiry and lead records securely.
  • Email providers used to notify our team internally and to send alerts you have requested.
  • Analytics providers, where you have consented (see cookies below).

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

Cookies and analytics consent

We use a small number of essential cookies that are needed for the site to function. We also use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-BRCT8PNE4E) to understand how the site is used. Analytics cookies are consent-gated: they do not load until you accept them through our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics scripts run.

You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clearing the site data in your browser, which will prompt the consent banner to appear again. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above. Enquiry and lead records are retained for up to 24 months so we can support follow-up and resolve any queries, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Alert sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages and listing requests are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards. Analytics data is retained in line with the analytics provider's standard retention settings.

How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your data secure, including access controls and encryption in transit. While no online service can be completely secure, we work to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your data is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent mechanisms.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used.
  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request erasure of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances.
  • Request portability of data you have provided to us.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please get in touch through our contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Children's privacy

The directory is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do.
